Codes, sizes and where our locks belong.
What is the difference between the two FortLocks locks?
The Gym Locker Lock has its dials on the front and a reset switch underneath. The Combination Padlock has its dials on the side and resets with a turn of the shackle. Both take a four-digit code and have a hardened steel shackle.
How many codes can I choose from?
Four dials with ten digits each give 10,000 possible codes, from 0000 to 9999.
What if I forget my code?
Neither lock has a key or a backup code, so a forgotten code means the lock stays shut. Write your code down and keep it somewhere away from the lock.
What code does a new lock open on?
A new Combination Padlock opens on 0-0-0-0. Set your own code before you use it. The Gym Locker Lock comes with setting steps in the box, and our how-to page has them with photos.

Will a FortLocks lock fit a standard gym locker?
Yes. The Gym Locker Lock opens 0.9 in (2.3 cm) wide and the Combination Padlock 0.85 in (2.15 cm), which covers standard gym and school locker hasps. Every size is on the compare page.
Can I use a FortLocks lock outside?
The maker describes both bodies as rustproof and fit for outdoor use. They are still locker-sized locks. For a gate, a shed or a garage, choose a heavier lock with a thicker shackle.
